Ms Suriyani Binte Rahamat
![]() | Ms Suriyani Binte RahamatVice-Dean of Students, Student Success Centre, Singapore University of Social Sciences Member of AEBSuriyani Rahamat is the Vice Dean of Students at the Student SucceSS Centre (SSC) at Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS). Her role include overseeing professional readiness programmes for SUSS students that strengthen’s its graduates employability and employment opportunities and promotes lifelong learning to all SUSS students. Her portfolio includes strategic planning for the centre overseeing academic related programmes, such as professional-readiness related Minors, work study degree programmes, industry based study programmes, academic quality assurance and regional partnership development. She is also an associate faculty in SUSS teaching several courses under Minor in Leadership. Before entering the higher education sector, Suriyani has been in leadership roles in K-12 education in both national and international schools for more than 25 years. This include being in the pioneering team to start 3 high schools including School of the Arts, Singapore. She is currently an active member of the International Baccalaureate Educators Network (IBEN) member, conducting authorisation visits, consultancy and facilitating workshops for schools for its IB Career Related Programme (IBCP). She has a Diploma in Departmental Management and is trained in both Understanding by Design and Teaching for Understanding Curriculum Frameworks. She led several innovation projects in MOE as an I-Advocate and in Life Science teaching after an attachment at University of Washington, Seattle under A-Star. A science educator by training, Suriyani has a Masters in Education (Science) from Nanyang Technological University and is a recipient of the STU Gold Medal for her course. She majored in Biology and Chemistry for her Bachelor in Science with Diploma in Education from the same university where she also received the Economic Development Board Book Prize for Biology. Suriyani believes in the holistic development of students that would be ready for a volialite, uncertain, complex and ambiguous (VUCA )future and supports this through capacity building of educators locally and regionally for educators. |
