Did you know that Japanese New Year traditions begin on 1 January and continue through the first week of the year? ๐โจ Students explored these traditions with a special โmystery guestโ visit from Ms Fuki. Students learned how families in Japan prepare for the new year through cleaning and cleansing their homes, cooking traditional delicacies, and welcoming good fortune with symbolic items such as Kagami Mochi, Door God decorations, and the lion dance. The experience came alive through hands-on activities, including the traditional game Fukuwarai, as well as drawing and colouring characters like Otafuku and Hyottoko.
